The Surrey Equitation Medal Class

The Inter-School Horse Show Series has been a unique opportunity for young riders to gain valuable horse show experience while learning the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. Over the years, riders that now compete in the intercollegiate series, the IHSA, have come back and commented that  they felt that their horse show experience in the Inter-School Horse Show series gave them confidence to compete on the intercollegiate level. They also recommended that we offer a more competitive class for the advanced riders. In response, we are now offering the The Surrey Equitation Medal Class.

The Surrey Equitation Medal Class is open to all riders who have competed in the corresponding Advanced Division. As with the other divisions, riders would not need to own their own horse -- they may lease a school horse, from the barn hosting the horse show.  We have decided to waive the horse rental fee for riders not bringing their own horse.

The top eight (11) riders are recognized with ribbons but only the top six (6) riders are awarded points.  Two (5) riders are recognized with Honorable Mention --- no points are awarded to these riders. The points are tallied separately and are not included in the total for the ISHS Team Standings.  The top riders in the medal class will compete at the end of the year Invitational Show.
